Hi, I’m CAROLINE.

I’m a yoga teacher based on Maui, Hawaii and the owner of shyAktive yoga that specializes in prenatal, postnatal and fertility yoga. I am the eldest of four sisters, one of many female extended family members and mom of boys. My teaching ethos is grounded in the idea that as women our well-being is tied intrinsically to our health, and that yoga can be a tool to lift our health to meet our desire for better well-being. Especially during our reproductive years, where monthly periods can emotionally and physically drain us, fertility can become challenging and the transition through pregnancy and motherhood rocks us. There are yoga tools we can use to help us through these big transitions and I can’t wait to support you on your journey to better health, wellbeing and happiness!

My CREDENTIALS

A certified RYT 200 yoga instructor, and qualified prenatal, postnatal and fertility yoga instructor. I have been practicing yoga for 20 years reaching back to my mid-teens where my Ballet Academy in Sydney, Australia exposed us to yoga and pilates practice as a cross train to the rigorous weekly ballet schedule. Today I am based on Maui, Hawaii and I continue to study, practice and teach yoga everyday.

PRENATAL YOGA

The benefits of prenatal yoga are far-reaching. Yoga during pregnancy improves health and general fitness for labour, promotes stress management, and prevents common aches and pains during pregnancy. It can provide social connection to other mothers and improves overall emotional wellbeing.

POSTNATAL YOGA

Postnatal yoga promotes mind-body wellness for new moms. It is an ideal postnatal form of exercise - its’s safe, beneficial and adaptive. It balances strengthening and dynamic poses with restorative yoga to balance the nervous system and ensure moms themselves are nurtured while nurturing.

FERTILITY YOGA

Yoga for fertility connects us back to our bodies promoting greater awareness of our health and reduces our overall stress, which has been proven to be a factor in unexplained fertility. Along with the physical benefits fertility yoga promotes emotional wellbeing and a kindness to self.
